Call From Here: Gizmo

Yes, that’s right! Just log in to your Gizmo account (What? Don’t have one! Then get one, NOW!) and make a telephone call to any landline, computer-2-computer, and SIP phones right from this browser. Or any browser with the Gizmo FLASH 9.0 embed tool on it!

Amazing, VOIP service worldwide – You can call any other GizmoCall, Gizmo5 users, 800 numbers, or SIP address for no charge – right from a browser on any computer, any platform (non OS specific) – even the new Netbooks!

This is sort of like Skype’s ‘embedded call’ link. But even that has to pull up the computer-based program. This is stand alone. Make a call from ANY computer by simply going to GizmoCall.com. Log in and make your call. Couldn’t be simpler!

So, go ahead, get your FREE Gizmo account. Buy a few minutes of extremely reasonable air time and call some folks – right from the comfort of your own browser.

I’d suggest a good headset w/mic (Plantronics is a good start) so that your conversations are ‘private’ – that is if you don’t ‘talk loud’ (please DON’T!). Great for on-the-road work from the computer. I use it all the time whether on-the-road or in the ‘SoHo’.

Permission Push: Widgets

Seth Godin [1] [2] wrote about the power of marketing when you seek the permission first, of you intended market, in his book, Permission Marketing. The theme of his informative and ground-breaking book, was to ask first, then market to friendly receptors. The likelyhood of success is greatly increased. The reality, it increases in many ways. Not the least of which is the willingness of the market to recieve your jingle the next time around.
Just when you think you’ve seen the latest coolness, a blast from a fresh cool breeze zips by your consciousness and the constantly evolving web produces another wonder for us. Today I stumbled upon the cool do-it-yourself Widget site called, SpringWidgets, while investigating another, totally unrelated site.
Widgets are those little programs most often written in FLASH or Javascript, that are made up of portable chunks of code, easily installed and executed within any separate HTML-based web page. Widgets are simple programming requiring no additional compilation by the user. They are just plain cool!
Widgets are known by a number of ‘other names’ as well: gadget, badge, module, capsule, snippet, mini and even… flake.
Though the web widget is used for personal web enhancement, or for the pleasure and ease of those who visit our web publications, businesses are just now beginning to see them as valuable tools in their marketing and education plans.
